Beating Bowel Cancer
I am backing Beating Bowel Cancer’s new ‘Bowel Cancer 2012 Challenge’ which calls for significant improvements in disease awareness and patient outcomes by the Olympic Year 2012.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer deaths in the UK but, if diagnosed in time, it is very easy to treat successfully. However, awareness is still very low.
The charity’s Loud Tie Campaign which was launched at the House of Commons recently urged people to wear loud wacky ties during Loud Tie week and get sponsored for doing so. I was happy to get out my loudest tie in their support! The charity hopes that the general public will get behind this year’s campaign by digging out their loudest neckwear, raising important funds and helping to spread the world about this common cancer. They are calling for real improvements in the area of bowel cancer and, in particular, for increasing awareness and better outcomes for patients within the next five years.
