Bournemouth Disabled Swimmers Club

Presenting the prizes at Stokewood Road Swimming Pool

Every year, I am very pleased to be able to present the awards at the Disabled Swimmers Gala at Stokewood Road swimming pool, in which Bournemouth swimmers compete against other disabled swimmers from other towns. 

I have helped the Disabled Swimmers Club in their campaigns to improve their facilities and we were particularly successful in maintaining the services at Stokewood Road pool some years' ago.

I greatly admire the courage and determination of so many of these disabled swimmers who manage to overcome their disabilities in such a splendid way.  In 2006, it was particularly gratifying that Bournemouth defeated their visitors and retained the challenge cup, the first time for many years!
