Court of Referees

I have been a member of the Court of Referees since 1995.

The Court of Referees consists of the three Deputy Speakers and seven other Members of the House of Commons.  It is the body which determines whether an individual or organisation has sufficient direct interest (or 'locus standi') in the provisions of a Private Bill to entitle them to petition against the Bill.
