Crime

Victim

I am a strong supporter of Victim Support which offers victims of crime confidential advice by trained volunteers.  I have made representations to the Home Secretary about Government funding for Victim Support which is being devolved to the local Criminal Justice Board.

Dorset has the second lowest amount of funding per head of population of any police force in this country.

  • I have been acting as a convenor of Dorset MPs with police representatives from the Dorset Police Authority, the Association of Police Authorities and the Association of Chief Police Officers to discuss the problems they are facing.
  • I am very concerned about the police funding settlement and believe that unless Dorset Police are provided with additional resources cuts to their service are inevitable.
  • I have repeatedly taken delegations from Dorset Police to see Government Ministers to complain about the low level of funding.
  • I am very concerned that serious crime in Bournemouth is increasing at an alarming rate and have been urging the Government to avoid any reduction in police numbers.
