BOURNEMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL BILL

Sir John Butterfill, was pleased to support the Bournemouth Borough Council Bill in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 18th December, 2007.

The Bill, which has been proposed by Bournemouth Borough Council, would give the Council extra powers following complaints about the vast number of pedlars working in the Square.  It would give the Council the power to hand out on-the-spot fines and confiscate goods.

John believes that the Council should have more control over pedlars as it is a particular problem in Bournemouth.

Unfortunately the Bill was objected against in the House and will not now be debated until next year.
