Present at the meeting were a large number of senior members of the Bournemouth Islamic Centre. John and the members had a most fruitful discussion about ways in which the Islamic community in Bournemouth could integrate further with the local community in the hope that Bournemouth could set an example to other parts of the U.K. as to how religious, ethnic and other minority groups could live together in harmony and co-operation.
John agreed to pursue these matters further with leaders of the community and with Dr Hani Ajinah, who is also a member of the Right Start Foundation International and the Lifemakers U.K. and has agreed to be the representative for future liaison together with the Imam.
John commented: “This was a most productive meeting and it is very clear that the Islamic community is most anxious to build bridges with the rest of the community in Bournemouth for the benefit of our citizens.”
