QUESTIONING CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER DURING PRE BUDGET REPORT DEBATE

During the Chancellor’s Pre Budget Report and Comprehensive Spending Review, Sir John Butterfill, intervened to ask him if his estimates for public sector debt included the liabilities of private financial initiative and public-private partnership schemes.  If they did not, he asked the Chancellor to tell him what the total figures would be.

However, the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, declined to give that information and said that the information should be in the pre-Budget report.
